As many of you know my, when I hit the road I ran into a problem IMMEDIATELY. I got a flat tire. Luckily the owners of the farm I stayed at helped me put on my spare and I got it patched. Unluckily, the patch didn't hold so I was stranded at a Circle K gas station a few short hours later. A few long hours later and with the help of some very nice young men, I was back on the road and made it to my first stop in Moline, IL. It was mostly smooth sailing from there.

Colorado

My first major stop was in Colorado, I explored A TON of Rocky Mountain National Park and learned that moving every other weekend was way too much work. While in Colorado I also took Hector on an airplane for the first time to go see my dear friend Tiffany get married, then we went back to normal life! After moving around the park we headed out to Grand Junction. I had learned by this point that staying in one place was preferable to constant motion so I booked my first one month stay. Grand Junction itself was nothing to gawk at but it was my first time seeing a desert and I saw my first cactus growing out of the ground! When I walked around Colorado National Monument I knew I was a cowboy in a previous life and my love for western movies came rushing back to me.

The other fantastic experience I had in Grand Junction was watching my first meteor shower. On a Tuesday night I went up to the park campground and set up my tent, it was FREEZING and my air mattress ended up having a hole in it so I woke up on the ground but the view of the sky all night made this well worth it.

I had decided to stay in Grand Junction because it was the cheapest location near Moab, Utah where I wanted to visit Arches National park, Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park.

Utah

Although I was staying in Colorado I spent my weekends in Utah. I was lucky enough to meet some people who rock climbed and another who Canyoneered and they showed me the ropes. I loved seeing all the rock formations in Moab but I really fell In love with Utah when I hit Zion National Park.

To get to Zion I parked at an RV resort in Monroe, UT for a week and experienced really cold camper living. It was 17º at night and about 30º during the day. I learned all about propane and was so bored I took about fixing my bathroom door which is now permanently broken (oops).

I was thrilled to leave the bitter cold and headed to New Harmony, UT which put me up against Zion National Park and a few hours from Bryce Canyon. Utah was the first time I had visitors, My Mom and Duane came to visit for thanksgiving and Faith came to hand out for her birthday. A TON of hiking was completed by everyone! .

Arizona

Once December rolled around I had to get the heck out of the (minimal) snow that was making it into New Harmony and headed down to Phoenix, AZ. Almost every single RV park was full so I stayed at Black Canyon Ranch RV Resort where I met the McGowans who made me feel at home right before I left to actually flew home for Christmas. When I got back to Arizona in January I gave myself just enough time to adjust to camper life again before I headed to California.
